Commissioned by the National Trust through a Glimpse led brief, I created the design for a wooden carved ‘Story Bench’ full of illustrations that reflect stories from the area, touching on the stories collected from local people and their connection to nature and climate change. The Story Bench is located at Souter Lighthouse, South Shields and provides a much-loved addition to the landscape and a place for reflection for many years to come.
This was such an honour to work on - special thanks to my husband and collaborator on the design, Tom Madge who has a strong family connection to the South Shields coast.
